Create Your Pitch Deck

Let's designate a space to build out your Pitch Deck, a place for iterations of slides, taking notes, collecting images, and making charts and graphs.

Getting Started

We recommend using the suite of free Google products to build your Pitch Deck.  If you have a professionally named gmail, you can use that, otherwise go ahead and create a new Google account with [companyname]@gmail.com to get started.

We recommend creating a folder with subfolders, like this:

 [Company] Pitch Deck
Pitch Deck
Finances
Images
Notes

Within the Pitch Deck folder, save the template so that it is an editable Slides file.  This file can be your starting point, or if you prefer to start from scratch and use it as a reference, that’s totally fine too. Don’t be afraid of creating iterations, especially when making big changes to content or slide order. The way we recommend file naming is ‘CompanyName-Year-Month-Day’, to keep them chronological.

We typically create pitch decks in widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio, so that on tv screens and most monitors you don’t have white space on the sides. If you prefer a more square format, a standard 4:3 is also common. Go to File > Page Setup to change this.

Try Not to Get Stuck!

We encourage you to do your best to not get stuck. As the originator of an idea, and the owner of a business, it’s common to get to an area you haven’t addressed yet and spend too much time there, resulting in a loss of momentum. Simply skip it and move on. Often, the area of issue is addressed more easily in the future, isn’t as important for your business as you thought, or could inspire the need for additional teammates or consultants.
